COSMOS

COSMOS was NEON BERLIN’s debut — the collection that established the parametric methodology every subsequent release would build on.

Parametric workflows let us derive complex 3D frame geometry directly from 2D input curves.

Our algorithm embedded the brand’s structural logic into every silhouette while guaranteeing ergonomic fit and manufacturability across the collection.

We used the faceted 3D surfaces to create fluid transitions and visually gripping highlights and shadows.

Approach

From the bold silhouettes to the patented 3D printed titanium hinge, every detail was thoroughly considered.

  • Parametric development

Built the Grasshopper definition that derives complex 3D frame geometry directly from 2D input curves, embedding the brand’s structural logic into every generated form.

  • Emerging technologies

Used emerging DMLS technology to produce our 3D printed titanium hinge — a first in the eyewear market at the time.

  • Ergonomics & optics

Embedded ergonomic fit parameters and optical requirements directly into the parametric model, so every generated frame is ready for production and a pleasure to wear.

  • Co-founder · launch

Launched COSMOS as NEON BERLIN's debut collection in 2017, together with co-founder Fabian Hofmann.
